Departmental Collections Searches
Data-capture for the 21-million specimens of the Museum of Comparative Zoology is an ongoing museum-wide priority. In addition, the MCZ is in the process of migrating over one million captured specimen records to a single centralized database, MCZbase.
During this dual dynamic process, captured data are available through legacy keyword searches or, if migrated, MCZbase. Searching capacity is linked below and will allow the search of current MCZ data, and in some cases specimen images, for the included collections. Searches of participating MCZ collections are also possible through discipline-specific and global initiatives, such as MaNIS, HerpNET, ORNIS, FishNet 2, VertNet and the GBIF data portal.
