Research Collection

The Department of Malacology contains one of the largest and most diverse collections of mollusks in the world. The collection contains over 390,000 catalogued lots and at least another 100,000 uncataloged lots. Strengths include the pulmonates, Teredinidae, deep-sea mollusks, western Atlantic Ocean marine species, and North American freshwater species. The collection has approximately 14,000 Types and includes at least 6,500 primary Types.

The Malacology Collection is searchable online through MCZbase as well as through iDigBio and GBIF.
