Kelsey Tyssowski

Postdoctoral Researcher
Hopi Hoekstra Lab
Kelsey
Kelsey is broadly interested in understanding nervous system function at the molecular level. She received a BA in Molecular Biology and Neuroscience from Wesleyan University in 2011. She then worked as a research technician in Yukiko Gotoh’s lab at the University of Tokyo where she studied gene regulation in neural development. Kelsey earned her PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences in 2019 working with Jesse Gray in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. In her doctoral studies, she investigated how different patterns of neuronal activity drive induction of different neuronal-activity-regulated genes. In the Hoekstra lab, Kelsey plans to take advantage of the genetic and behavioral variation in Peromyscus mice to understand the molecular and neural basis of innate motor behaviors.
