It is with profound sadness that we share the news that our colleague Dick Lewontin died on Sunday, July 4th after a lengthy period of ill health. He was best known for his stellar population genetics work, and to those close to him, for his generosity and collegiality. He arrived at the MCZ in 1973, and held one of the Alexander Agassiz Professorships until 1998, and retired in 2003, but remained extremely active until his illness started a few years ago. We offer our condolences to his four sons and multiple grandchildren.
